Review: This book has been pleasing kids and parents since 1972. It was one of my favorites as a child. It is cleverly written, and often very funny. (I was fascinated with Wanda Pierce's charm bracelet.) Re-reading it as an adult, I still found a lot to enjoy. Moreover, the message is well worth repeating: it is not only the ostentatiously pure who are welcome at the table. The story is for everyone. Recommended.
